Partial Eclipse of the Sun as Seen from Europe and Iceland.
The western portion of Europe will see a minor partial eclipse of the Sun on August 21st at, or near, sunset. Cities right of the pink, curved line will see the beginning of a partial eclipse, but the Sun will set before reaching maximum phase. These cities, on this map include Lisbon, Madrid, Oslo, Brussels, and Paris. Paris , at sunset, will see only 2.3% of the Sun obscured at sunset
All cities to the left of the pink, curved line will see maximum phase before sunset. London, for example, will see the Moon obscure the Sun by four percent at sunset. Maximum eclipse will occur at 7:05 pm with the Sun setting at 7:07 pm. Four percent is small but still observable with proper filtered glasses.
Dublin, Aberdeen, and Reykjavik will all see a complete partial eclipse of the Sun from beginning to end. Aberdeen will only see 1.6% obscuration, while Reykjavik will see only 2.2%, and Dublin viewing 3.8%.
The Suns on this map that disappear represent sunset. Again, this is a very minor partial eclipse of the Sun in western Europe!
